Khoresm is a region of thousands fortresses. Archeologists found a lot of ruins of ancient fortresses and royal palaces which were strong and rich in the past. The most famous of them are Toprak-kala, Dzjanbas-kala, Kay-Krylgan-kala, Kyzyl-kala and Ayaz-kala.

Khoresm is interesting city not only by its ruins of ancient and medieval fortresses. It is a birth place of the oldest world’s religion - Zarathustra. “Avesta” (the holy book of Zarathustra)  researchers think that territory of Big Khoresm (including territories of Khoresm, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and other lands up to Northern Iran) was center of appearing the ancient religion.

Khoresm played very important role in caravan trading. It connected trading ways of China, Mongolia, Iran and Central Asia with Europe. In the list of global heritage of mankind, Khoresm has a special place as the center of world’s civilization and one of the most important centers of the Great Silk Road. 
 

Khoresm is the oldest territory of Central Asia and has over 3 000 years history. City has unique architectural monuments.  And, definitely, they can compete with Egypt pyramids and Greek temples by their complex structures. In addition, Khoresm has a very special culture, which is different from cultures of other parts of Central Asia by its authentic originality.
