One of the most beautiful cities in Uzbekistan is Namangan city. This is also one of the high populated region of republic. It locates on the north from center of Fergana Valley and in over 200 km from Tashkent.
Historical name of the city has its own story. From Persian language “Namak kan” means “salt mine”. According to archeologists research, Namangan city was founded in the end of 15th century on the same place as it is now. Talks about Namangan city had been started in 1610 and after 10 years, indigenous people of Akhsikent who survived from a big earthquake, moved there.
In the ancient times, population mostly consist of craftsman and ceramic masters, fabric manufacturing owners, doctors, hammer smiths, colourers, jewelry store owners and others. City had well developed trade relations with China, Bukhara and neighboring nomads. But during khans ruling, due to its good location and good trading, Namangan city was often a victim of invasions and robberies. In 1843, the ruler of Namangan was Khudoyar Khan, the descent of Sherali Khan. When Khudoyar Khan was 16 years old, he became a ruler of Kokand as well. He was crowned by Musulmankul in 1845.
The main city’s sightseeing is Khdzamny-Kabry mausoleum built in 18th century by Abdurakhim descendant, well known Mukhamad Ibrahim master. The end of mausoleum building matched with time when Namangan city was on its high popularity. It became on of the biggest cities of Fergana Valley. Outside decoration of mausoleum is different from ordinary traditional style which was typical to that time. Variety of colors on the background of red burnt bricks is really impressing.

Originally, Namangan Central Park, built in 1884, was a personal residence of local authority. As an opened object for visitors it became only in 1917. Later, park was renamed as A.S.Pushkin park in 1938. Since Uzbekistan became an Independent country, park was renamed again as Babur park. Nowadays, park is historical object and has partly saved walls and other fragments of original buildings. Also fortress inside the park, once was a hiding place for Red Army. Due to many years story, park has a big popularity among tourists.
