Kuva city is one of the oldest cities of Fergana valley. It locates on the northeast part of valley. Kuva city is administrative center of Kuva region and locates in 20 km from Fergana (regional center). Name of city came from the title of turk tribe “Kuva”. Scientist do not know exact date of its appearing, but archeologists found buildings on its territory dated 3th century bc.  

In the ancient sources city was mentioned as “Kuba”. Arabic sources of 10th century have several mentions of ancient Kuba city on the territory, where current Kuva city is placing now. Ancient city consists of citadel, Rabada and  Shakhristan, surrounded with walls and towers. The city was located on the Caravan ways which connected Fergana Valley and Kashgar region.  Kuva city was partly destroyed in the beginning of 13th century during Mongols invasion. But there are still well saved ruins of ancient city. In the period of 1956-1958 years, the Buddhist temple was build outside from city walls. There were many statues of Buddha and many others Buddhist devines. In the citadel, there were found a lot of remainders of household and residential facilities, home items and others. This Buddhist temple is dated 7-8th centuries. 

Many historians insist on fact, that Kuba city – is a homeland of famous medieval scientist and astronomer – Akhmad Al-Fergani, who was known in Europe under Alfraganus name. Memorial complex, opened in 1998, is a part of archeologist ruins of ancient Shakhristan. There are archeological excavation of medieval city in the territory of memorial complex. Nearby the complex, there is a fruit garden with beautiful fountains inside with total square over 350 meters. From the garden, two ellipse steps are leading to monument of Akhmad Al-Fergani on the upland of Shakhristan.
